Total number of websites in the world - Size of the www (World Wide Web)

The total number of websites,reached 1 billion in September of 2014, figure confirmed by NetCraft in October’s Web Server Survey and this Internet Live Statistic was announced and attested from the inventor of the www (World Wide Web himself), Tim Berners Lee - The total number of websites across the world has again declined, reverting back again to a level below mark of 1 billion. Reason being the monthly fluctuations in the total count of inactive websites. It is expected, however to exceed the 1 billion websites mark again sometime in late 2015 to mid 2016, and is believed to stabilize the historic count and milestone in 2017. Starting from first website in 1991 to huge 1 billion in 2014, the attached chart and below table show the total count of websites by year.
